First off PEBKAC stands for Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair,which I readily admit here!
Below is a summary: The KAM plus "talks" to the computer and radio using Kantronics Pacterm, and I am receiving APRS packets legibly, with some garbage I attribute as being the APRS icons, etc. So I am receiving legible position data and tags such as "W9XXX mobilinig around", AND the TNC will transmit packets I can monitor, as in I type in the command, in pacterm "connect WA4XXX-1" , where wa4XXX is typed in just for test, and the radio sends out packet squawks I have monitored on my scanner. The problem is: I am having no luck getting Win APRS to communicate with the KAM PLUS. So I am sure it is operator error at some level, as the TNC is working, and the radio hookup is transceiving using PACTERM. I know version 8.2 of the kam+ firmware is capable of APRS, but I have only the basic manuals for the kam+, and no documentation on firmware 8.2. I haven't run packet in 10 years, and never APRS.
