*Scope of Task*
The objective of this task is to initiate and troubleshoot the hardware,
Oracle Sun OS and OEL 6.x OS software used to support SSOARS and other
projects.
In support of the task, the contractor shall perform activities such as
those described in the sub-tasks below.

*Sub-Task 1:  Attend Meetings*
Purpose:  Attend meetings with other personnel, on and off-site, to
troubleshoot problems and plan upcoming initiatives.
Activities:
• Participate in discussions of:
o Project changes;
o Deployments, migrations, or upgrades;
o Technical support training;
o Discuss procedures in the event of outage (planned or unplanned);
o Discuss build standards and maintenance requirements; and
• Complete any action items assigned at the meeting per deadlines set at
the meeting.

*Sub-Task 2: Build or Upgrade Sun or HP Proliant Linux Hardware  *

Purpose:  Build from scratch or upgrade the software (including but not
limited to the operating system, clustering software, volume manager, and
all third party ancillary software) on Sun servers that are either
stand-alone or clustered to be used by the SSOARS project.
Activities:
• Install, operate, and maintain Solaris 10 and Solaris 11 UNIX Operating
System (OS) software and standards. Upgrade of OS takes about 3 months.
Patches are applied quarterly.  Maintaining servers is ongoing.
• Install, operate, and maintain Sun Cluster High Availability software (v
3.2) with an Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) configuration in
support of an Oracle database. Sun Cluster installation is part of the OS
upgrade. Takes 1 day to configure.
• Install and configure Veritas NetBackup DataCenter software to perform
backups within a Storage Area Network (SAN).
• Install and configure the firmware on the Sun servers.
• Configure DASD using Veritas Volume Manager and Veritas File System
including installation of the software itself, managing (creating, deleting
and extending volumes and files systems) the disks that are both raw and
cooked on both clustered and non-clustered within a SAN.
• Create detailed build/upgrade documents to explain exactly what was done,
how it was done and why it needed to be done.  A template for the process
will be provided after reporting to work.
• Create and maintain a software depot to store the software used to build
and upgrade the software on the Sun servers.  Location to be approved by
the Task Manager.
• Train personnel on related software.
• Configure SSH for file transfers for other UNIX and Linux systems.

*Sub-Task 3:  Distributedc Problem Detection and Resolution*

The contractor shall:
• Provide technical expertise with the use of the Intranet, Transmission
Control.
• Identify and resolve Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), connectivity and
configuration issues.
• Identify and resolve SAN issues for DASD or tape devices.
• Troubleshoot Sun hardware problems and facilitate any necessary hardware
repairs.
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues between different UNIX & Linux
environments, mainframe environment and the SSOARS systems.
• Communicate with Task Manager and other designated personnel by phone and
email concerning details of the issue and expected resolution.
• Develop and maintain UNIX scripts that actively monitor the software and
hardware for potential problems and alert all concerned parties by email
and pager.

*Sub-Task 4:  Oracle Support*

Purpose:  Provide UNIX support during Oracle software upgrades.
Activities:
• Provide systems support for migration of new releases of Oracle
eBusinessSuite.
• Provide 24X7 UNIX systems support to Oracle Database Administrator’s
(DBA) and Oracle eBusinessSuite Application administrators.
• Conduct performance tuning and monitoring activities such as analyzing
system logs, so that the Oracle databases operate at optimum efficiency.
• Train personnel on related software.

*Sub-Task 5:  Distributed Third Party Software Support*

Purpose:  Support third party software that is used to support the Oracle
Financials software.
Activities:
• Install and support Tibco Managed File Transfer (MFT) software.
• Install and support Micro Focus Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL).
• Install, configure and support secure shell (SSH) products, such as
F-Secure.
• Install and support Computer Associates Access Control and other products
associated with Computer Associates eTrust software suite.
• Install, configure and support Hitachi ShadowImage and EMC TimeFinder.
• Install new third party software as acquired by SSOARS project developers.
• Manage and correct security problems from audits provided by UNIX
security branch.
• Install and maintain third party auditing tools.
• Install and maintain BMC PATROL.
• Install and maintain Veritas NetBackup.
• Provide the Task Manager with a proposed schedule for any work that
requires a CAPRs action.
• Train personnel on related software.

*Sub-Task 6:   DB2 Software Development and Maintenance*

Purpose:  Maintain, test, document, and deploy DB2 system level software
features and changes.
Activities: The following activities shall be performed in accordance with
standards, which will be provided, for building DB2 subsystems and adhering
to life cycle and change control procedures:
• Analyze requirements.
• Develop detailed procedure documents for installation, maintenance and
testing.
• Install, test, and maintain DB2 system software.
• Meet with fellow management and staffs to develop requirements.
• Manage the life cycle.
• Coordinate software changes.

*Sub-Task 7:  DB2 Problem Management and Production Support*

Activities:
• Customize commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) monitoring software to monitor
the DB2 production environment for problems.
• Inform Management and Staffs of problems and subsequent resolutions.

*Sub-Task 8:  DB2 Software Installation and Maintenance*

Purpose:   Install and maintain DB2 software and third party vendor
products.
Activities:
• Install DB2 system software and third party vendor software using System
Modification Product/Extended (SMP/E) across System Development Life Cycle
(SDLC).
• Maintain DB2 system software and third party vendor software using SMP/E
across SDLC.
• Update configuration documentation reflecting new software versions.
• Research compatibility between DB2 and third party vendor software.
• Research compatibility between z/OS, Top Secret, Application software in
relationship to DB2 and third party vendor products.
• Establish and document test plan.
• Coordinate test activities with application development staff and
external partners.
• Document changes using Change Management System (CMS).
• Communicate and coordinate software upgrades with the Task Manager.
