I have a beginning problem, which is that I don't know what "keymaps"
refers to, a graphic that will show me how the keyboard is laid out, or the
actual programming that will install the alternate keyboard layout in
Fedora so I can switch to it when I want to type accents.
While no
localectl shows the current locale
You can list the keymaps:
sudo localectl list-keymaps
You can see the different groupings:
sudo localectl list-keymaps | grep us
sudo localectl list-keymaps | grep fr
I have not changed the layout for several years,
The actual keymap files are in /usr/lib/kbd/ke

I am accustomed to using the US-international keyboard on my Windows
systems. I'd like to use it in Fedora 28, too, so I don't have to learn
alternate keyboard layouts.
It is not listed, at least not by the name I'm used to, in the
Settings/Region & Language list of keyboard layouts.
