Bonjour,
Les élections qui se sont tenues plus tôt ce mois se sont terminées de
façon satisfaisante et nous avons tenu le premier Council meeting avec
les nouveaux membres ce 26 Novembre [0]. Au nom de tous ceux qui sont
concernés par ce process, je voudrais tous vous remercier pour le succès
de cette première vague d'élections. Elles se sont tenues en fonction du
nouveau process d'élections [1] et en dépit de quelques confusions, se
sont vraiment bien déroulées. La semaine prochaine nous débuterons un
nouveau cycle. Mais pour le moment...
Les nouveaux membres et les sièges qu'ils vont représenter sont :

Les observateurs, Sophie Gautier, Drew Jensen and Mechtilde Stehmann ont
tous approuvé et confirmé les résultats. Mes remerciements à eux ainsi
qu'à Stefan Taxhet qui a organisé la structure de vote qui nous a permis
de voter.
Joignez-vous à moi pour accueillir Juergen, Charles et Christophe ! Je
n'ai aucun doute qu'ils vous sont déjà familiers et j'espère, ainsi que
tous les membres du Council, que vous allez devenir encore plus proche
d'eux et du travail du Council. La durée de leur mandat est de deux ans
[2] cela nous donne ainsi tout le temps pour développer de bonnes relations.
Et cette relation est vraiment importante, de la même façon que savoir
ce qu'est le Council. Le Community Council est votre Council; sa force
et sa pertinence résident dans l'intérêt que vous lui portez et dans
l'effort que vous placez en lui afin de refléter vos intérêts et la
compréhension des intérêts de la communauté. Prenez un moment pour lire
la page d'acceuil du Council [4] et sa charte constitutive [5] et voir
ce que nous pouvons faire et ne pas faire. Suggérez des éléments à
l'ordre du jour (ouvert) [3]. Contactez vos représentants à propos de
problèmes que vous trouvez important de discuter. OpenOffice.org est une
grande et diverse communauté. Mais elle a une mission et un Council de
gouvernance qui donne sa voix à la communauté. Mais uniquement si vous
parlez.

The election held earlier this month ended quite satisfactorily and we
held our first Council meeting with the newly elected members this last
Thursday 26 Nov. [0]. On behalf of everyone concerned in the process,
I'd like to congratulate all for the success of this first wave of
elections. It was held according to the provisions of the new Election
Process [1], and despite a few confusing mixups, went really very well.
Next week, we'll start the next cycle. But for now....
The new members and the constituencies they will be representing are:

The observers, Sophie Gautier, Drew Jensen, and Mechtilde Stehmann, have
all approved and confirmed the results. My thanks to them and to Stefan
Taxhet, who managed the voting apparatus that allowed us to vote.
Please join me in welcoming Juergen, Charles and Christoph! I have no
doubt they are all quite familiar to you, and I and everyone else on the
Council, hope that you will grow more familiar with them and the working
of the Council. The tenure of these new members is two years [2], so
that gives us all time to develop a good relationship.
And that relationship is really very important, as is knowing what the
Council is about. The Community Council is your Council; its strength
and relevance lie in the interest you take in it, and in the effort you
put into it to make reflect your interests and to understand the
interests of the community. Take a moment to look at the Council
homepage [4] and constituting Charter [5] to see what we can and cannot
do. Suggest items to the (open) agenda [3]. Contact your constituency
representative about issues you find worth discussing. OpenOffice.org is
a huge and varied community. But it has mission and a governing Council
that gives that community voice. But only if you speak.
