Welcome to the Interaction Design Associatio
"Does anyone else have ideas on how to make that accessible for
color-blind users?"
Maybe having the color letter in the color itself? Say yellow, red,
green you could just have a Y R G in the colour itself. Otherwise I
know for myself(guy and colour-blind), Yellow, Red, Green would
probably look
Plus those bars could easily add script so when a user browses around,
the bar gets the new Url and sends it back to their HQ. I can see some
browser-habit spying in this kind of instance.
But like Joshua said, these have "the owner value (not user value)
in mind."
And I agree.

The problem that arises every so often is that sometimes the host
doesn't know who the guests are or how many are coming...and that
does a designer do in that instance :)

Good Microsoft Surface blog:
http://blogs.msdn.com/surface/
I think the most interesting thing about designing for Surface, which
I've only done in sketches in OneNote on my TabletPC :), is that you
design a 360 degree layout. No more header/footer, menu on top,
yadayada. A whole new way of thinki

It's not bad. Problem is I didn't know where the accordian was you
were mentioning until my mouse accidently moved over them.
Think a better use is comething like this(in Silverlight):

Where you can tell the minimzed boxes are clickable to be maximized.

Context menu. They can right click on nodes or links in the nodes to
"Add New Item Here".
And in the tree itself when they make it, they can drag and drop
their item it in it's siblings, or even drag it out into it's
parents, or even deeper into it's child tree nodes.

I just wish all online banks had the features of mint.com does. Being
able to break down spending and bills into nice pie charts and such.

Yeah, feels to me like the jump to the left was a bug in their Flash
that was left in.
I do see 4 items in the pie, but for me the one with the pen thing
doesn't do anything on click. Then clicking Limited I noticed the
Limited pie item did nothing. Just seems kind of "off" to me, like

I think a major contributor to usability in fields like that are
watermarks in the textboxes to make them stand out more. Kind of like
the "Search Archives..." searchbox on this ixda site in the
rightnav. I think nowadays you can even dump the labels and put them
right in the textboxes.

Neat. Should have those everywhere. :)
I also like that BBC movie player...sound volume goes up to 11...hehe

Maybe useless was the wrong term to use. I have a Tablet PC, so I
haven't used paper/pen/printer in over 2 years. :)
Maybe a better solution instead of a "Print Page" link, would be a
"Save Content \/" link with a down arrow, indicating it opens up.
There you can pop up some options:

Does anyone have a link to any good R&D on the usage of a "Print Friendly" link
on a website. If it's used at all, if 1% of people click on it, etc.
There's a discussion on the guidelines of it's usage...

...but no discussion on IF it's actually used.
Maybe specify to the use WHY they have to choose location. Are you
just collecting information from me, like Ikea does when they ask for
my postal code when I make a purchase from their brick & mortar? Or is
there special content for the user for their locale.
The Intel dropdown says "Choose a loc
I just remember a Web Design World conference talk with Jared Spool,
