Elevator Buttons...the number of times I've hit the wrong button in
Shanghai! In some of the better office buildings, you push the button
to select your floor, but if you make a mistake, then you push and
hold the button (for 1-2 seconds) to 'unselect' the floor! Simple!
But, not many elevators
I guess mainly its habit; Before the Lithium Ion (Lion?) batteries,
one had to 'condition' a battery with a regular full-empty-full
cycle because of battery memory (especially NiMH). But, even with
modern Lion batteries, I've noticed that if you dont do the regular
full-empty-full cycle then the
Kevin,
I'll be moving back to the UK from Shanghai for my PhD in September

moving from Stoke to Swansea almost immediately, so I'm not really
sure if I can be of any help from so far away, but feel free to email

I'll be moving back to the UK for my PhD in September and was
wondering if there is a local group, such as the one here in
Shanghai, in or near Swansea. I've had a look at the map and it
seems that
For me, something that would make a device 'stand out from the
crowd' would be a decent battery life, even if it meant a little
more weight. I've had the original (2G) iPhone for around 18 months
or so now and my biggest gripe is the poor battery life. Even on a
good day I would be lucky to get
:( I signed up for a subscription mid-January at US$55!
I've read the latest issue and a couple of back-issues and found it

though the web did give that impression. On the TV report, it showed
different age groups using the service.
All of the six digit codes are listed on a
I suggest having a look at the ICE (Information Communication
Entertainment) system used by Emirates. Really simple easy to use,
but the screens themselves are sometimes not that responsive, needing
to be touched 2 or 3 times in some cases (sometimes a surprisingly
hard push is needed)...

I think that spelling the month out as shown by Shep is best, even if
your target audience is US. If any your audience have spent a
significant period of time outside of the US then just showing
numbers can lead to confusion; I am British (we do dd-mm-yy), living
in China (they use
The Shanghai metro has expanded rapidly over the last 5 years (about 6
lines added) and will continue to do so upto the World Expo in 2010
(13 lines in total!). Sometimes it can be confusing to navigate
around the possible interchange stations. The following website is
really useful;
