Position Description EnerNOC has an immediate opening for a UX Designer reporting to the Manager of UX. This position requires a broad knowledge of universal design principles, human factors and cognitive psychology as it relates to designing compelling user interfaces. The candidate should have a strong background in the following areas: 1. The overall user centered design process 2. The ability to conceptualize a design from all input sources and effectively communicate the design to all development stakeholders. 3. Experience in the area of information architecture in designing navigational architectures and work-flows. 4. Background in web/interaction design, creating RIAs Essential Duties: ⢠Organize large amounts of complex user input and requirements and produce simple, eloquent and effective user interactions. ⢠Ability to create mockups, user work-flows, wireframes and low-medium-high fidelity prototypes ⢠Well versed in the various graphic making tools and can create high quality graphic objects and designs. ⢠Collaborates in the information architecture process, including assessing the goals of the application, analyzing the needs of various audiences, creating use cases, compiling/organizing components into logical pages that can replicate the user/information work-flow. ⢠Participates in usability testing and the dissemination of results and recommendations back to the development team. ⢠Performs UX reviews. ⢠Participates in site visits and focus groups (less than 10 % travel). ⢠Represents the UX team on one or more agile development teams. ⢠May coordinate with sales/marketing on text/graphic/branding content for the web and print and other content-management tasks. ⢠Performs other duties as required. Required Qualifications/Skills/Education ⢠3-5 years experience as a User Experience Designer, Interaction or Visual Designer, Information Architect, or strongly related position in designing Web/Interaction RIA applications ⢠Bachelor or Masters degree in one of the following programs: Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Information Technology, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Interaction Design or related technical field. ⢠Understanding of development capabilities, e.g. Ajax, Flex, Objective C ⢠Active in the design community, e.g. IxDA, Adobe User Group, UTest, UPA, etc⦠⢠Strong understanding of universal design principles, human factors and cognitive psychology as it relates to design. ⢠Expert level skills with the Adobe Creative Suite of products: Photoshop, Fireworks, Illustrator, (Catalyst is a plus), etc⦠⢠Ability to produce pixel-perfect comps ⢠Experience with a prototyping simulation tool, e.g. Axure, Lucid Spec, Catalyst, Flash, etc⦠⢠Experience with Visio, HTML, CSS, XML, and JavaScript. ⢠Ability to interact with a wide range of internal/external users and stakeholders. ⢠Ability to handle design criticisms and feedback and to positively apply this feedback. ⢠Ability to explain the reasoning behind their design choices based on design principles, human factors and cognitive psychology. ⢠Must possess excellent communication, interviewing and collaborative skills. ⢠Ability to prioritize developmental and operational tasks in a dynamic and challenging environment. ⢠Experience working within an agile development process structure. ⢠Must be a team player and have a collaborative nature.
