POSITION SUMMARY
The Design Manager, as part of the User Experience organization, will
provide design leadership and direction to a team of talented user
interface visual designers, 3D modelers and animators, and audio
engineers. The incumbent will work to define and develop the design
aesthetic for BlackBerry device themes, device, Desktop and Server
applications, and the supporting auditory experience.
You will work alongside Brand Strategy, Marketing Communications,
Industrial Design and the entire User Experience organization to
define strategic design goals and execute on deliverables.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:
Provide creative design direction and functional management expertise
to the visual and auditory design components of the User Experience
organization
Work with Brand, ID and UX, to translate the strategic requirements
into product design goals and solutions
Manage the aesthetic quality of all products and services as well as
resourcing and development of your team
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of a Graphic Design, Interactive Media, Industrial Design or
related field
7+ years of experience providing creative direction in the field of
product design
Proven ability to develop, lead, and motivate high performing
creative teams
Demonstrated ability to create and commercialize hardware or software
technology products
Capacity to present information in a clear and concise manner both
verbally and in writing
Exceptional eye for detail, sensitivity to the audience/customer and
brand strategy
Experience in coordinating multiple, time sensitive projects and
activities simultaneously
Demonstrated success in a leadership role with keen interest in the
challenge of managing, nurturing and growing multi-disciplinary teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present ideas
effectively to both technical and business audiences
