I was initially tripped up by this as well. I noticed it recently and
made a mental note to go back and make some decisions about attending
them.
Something else that's not clear though is the whether or not the
designation that you're interested in a session means you have a
reservation
Well this caught me by surprise.
I've been busy making flight and hotel arrangements to attend Interaction
'09; now that they're done, I logged on to purchase the conference ticket.

how we have communicated the flow of the conference, and as chair
I'll take the fall there. We have to charge extra for the workshops
because well the workshop leaders have to make their way for all
their hard work.

Workshops at conferences are typically an additional fee. Having both
taught workshops and attended them, I can tell you they take a lot of
work from the presenters, which is one reason they're not free with
the conference.

So the disconnect is that the Crowdvine part of our site does not
state that the workshops have an associated cost to them. I'll
change that today. Sorry for the confusion there. The registration
page has clearly stated that the there is a fee for the workshops
from the start and most people have
