Title: Senior User Interface Designer,
Digital Services
Location: 10 minutes South of SF
Salary: DOE + bonus

A popular online retailer is searching for a Senior User Interface Designer to determine the look and feel of the user interface for specific features. The projects and areas are small or mid-sized initiatives. The Senior UI Designer will actively build a brand by acting as an advocate for the customer, leveraging a strong understanding of user-centered design and navigation models, in
delivering customer-centric design solutions that deliver business results.

Responsibilities:
* Work with creative managers, site and business owner(s) to conceptualize and execute designs that will advance the company's
merchandising, business, marketing, or branding objectives
* Will sometimes take direction from design lead(s); but will often work as a design lead to explore and create successful designs * Refresh/update existing designs, working within existing templates and conventions but also exploring new solutions * Create specifications for HTML and consultations with producers and HTML team to implement designs
* Provide insight and participate in user test plans; attend user testing
* Provide visual QA comments to and consultation with HTML, Engineering and PM teams prior to launch
* Ensure that pages match design specifications

Requirements include:
* At least four years of professional design experience, preferably in the area of software and/or Web site design; including at least one
year of professional Web and/or print marketing design experience
* Retail/e-commerce background is preferred
* A command of typography, color, composition, hierarchy and an understanding of how to balance these design elements with user
testing research to develop optimal user interface design solutions
* Experience developing icon or interface button design systems is desirable
* A two- or four-year college degree in graphic design, interaction design, visual studies or other design-related field
* User Interface and/or Information Architecture courses are a bonus
* Exposure to and understanding of Flex / Flash 9 environments
* Awareness and thought leadership in Web 2.0 design principles are a bonus
* Able to travel to home office or conference once time per year
