Dear Open Source geo and spatialists, it appears that the last mail on this topic was too heavily loaded with URLs and got intercepted by a variety of Spam filters. This is an abbreviated version. Find the full text and information on the web site of the 18th Annual World Bank Conference on Land and Poverty held from March 20 to 24, 2017 in Washington D.C. at
http://www.worldbank.org/landconference2017 The theme of the conference is "Responsible Land Governance: Towards an Evidence-Based Approach and invites submission of abstracts." At the last FOSS4G conference in Bonn Klaus Deininger (Lead Economist at the Development Research Group of the World Bank) specifically asked for support from the Open Source Geospatial Community to support the Land Information Domain with technical know-how. Two of the Key topic areas of the conference are perfects matches for our community: 2. Harnessing geospatial data, cloud platforms and other data technologies Policy application automated data analysis; combining administrative data, statistics and geospatial data; consistent use imagery; standards and interoperability; block chains; UAVs; mobile phones; participatory mapping; open data; open source; spatial data infrastructure; data access. 4. Delivering land administration services at scale Cost effective and fast expansion of coverage; reliability; transparency, monitoring performance; linking land information systems to tax, courts, land use, financial institutions; business models for service delivery; addressing capacity gaps, fit-for-purpose.
