Dear and Respected all, Sh. Shialesh Chaure from Government Holkar College, Indore has developed a *QGIS plugin TopoSheet Numbers Calculator *for knowing the numbers and extents of Toposheets covering your area of interest/layer, in old and new series mapping system of Survey of India. He has developed this out of his own interests and efforts.
This was much awaited, especially in Indian context. This will be useful for researchers and officials from Forest, Watershed, Rural Development/Infrastructure sector, as Survey of India's Topographical-sheets are still most authentic countrywide database available in India to GIS users, but finding the exact reference and number of topo-sheets falling under area of interest is a concern till date and consuming time of executors. By using this plugin user will be able to know the Toposheet numbers with sheet-wise extents from the input polygon, line or point features. This plugin is *available in QGIS official plugins repository* and can be installed in your QGIS version 2.0 and above through: *Plugins Menu>Manage and Install Plugins..>New>TopoSheet Numbers Calculator>Install plugin* *[Note: The desired layer(s) should remain open in QGIS and layers' projections should be EPSG:4326]* *The further details about plugin may be found at [1] and * *details of Sh. Shailesh Chaure may be found at [2], [3]* So, let us spread this message to executors, researchers, scholars to use the plugin, feedback and help in further development. 1- http://plugins.qgis.org/plugins/TopoNum/ 2- https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/User:Shailesh 3- http://shaileshchaure.com Kind Regards H K Solanki https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/User:Harryom https://in.linkedin.com/in/hksolanki [image: OSGeo charter.png][image: OSGeo user.png][image: Thumbnail for version as of 14:27, 30 June 2012]
