RESOLVED 2 and 3:
#2) I saw a post that indicated FDO 3.4 to be released (I believe) in Nov or
Dec 2008 will support ArcSDE 9.3.
#3) I used FWTools for the buffering functionality and then just converted
the geometry back to OSGeo.FDO geometry type.
