you may ask on QGIS list[1] where most of qgis users hang out. This will your answer rate exponentially. To try answer your question: QGIS plugin's allows to access map layers (raster/vector) which are loaded in the canvas. Is there any raster map loaded in the canvas before opening the plugin?

I am trying to use "Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin" in Qgis 1.8.0. When I installed the plugin its Icon was placed on the toolbar and it opens the tabbed form. The form comes up but I am not able to enter or select a raster image. Orfeo and Saga tools work under the Sextante (1.9.0) Toolbo
