Dear colleagues,

The launch of the Open Source Geospatial Lab at the Pete Fisher Laboratory for
Geocomputation at the University of Leicester, United Kingdom [1] was formally
announced by The President and Vice Chancellor of University of Leicester
Professor Paul Boyle at the GISRUK conference yesterday. I want to thank all
colleagues at the University of Leicester for working together for making this
possible. Once again excellent work that they all did to organise the GISRUK
conference again at Leicester (after 25 years) following the great footsteps of
Pete Fisher. It is a great way to carry on his legacy for the future
generations with the launch of Open Source Geospatial Lab at the University of
Leicester.

The Open Source Geospatial Lab at the Pete Fisher Laboratory for
Geocomputation will be a guiding light for Open Principles in Geo education and
research globally … It will help spread the importance of kindness and sharing
values to help create a world that is more accessible, equitable and full of
innovation and opportunities for everyone.

Best wishes,

Suchith

PS: It was excellent to see many colleagues yesterday . I had to leave
immediately after the first session because of other commitments. I look
forward to expanding our collaborations.
