At OSGeo.be we invited people from OSM in the plenary sessions of the
FOSS4G conferences to promote their community.
This year, March 16, OSGeo.be organises a separate track on the BeGeo
conference[1]. Registration is free of charge and we expect

in short we invited the OSM people to join our conference not only as
participants. In the first year (I think it was 2010) we had our regular
FOSSGIs conference followed by one day OSM talks. We switched at noon,
so that communities could meet.

The idea of OpenStreetMap (OSM) as a World Mapping Agency is very exciting.
In many ways it is already happening. Through the OSM API, Geofabrik,
Mapzen, etc etc I can easily access high quality, up-to-date geographic for

these are really good news. I wanted to add 2 Cents in the form, that we
might encourage our local OSGeo chapters for a close relationship to the
local OSM communities.
