Dear colleagues,

Greetings to everyone on World Science Day for Peace and Development. The
theme for 2018 is “Science, a Human Right", in celebration of the 70th
anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights<http://www.un.org/en/universal-declaration-human-rights/> (art. 27), and
of the Recommendation on Science and Scientific Researchers. Recalling that
everyone has a right to participate in and benefit from science, it will serve
to spark a global discussion on ways to improve access to science and to the
benefits of science for sustainable development [1].

How do we enable access to geoeducational and digital economy opportunities for
all? How can we help everyone enjoy the benefits of geospatial scientific
progress and its applications? How can we create a global community of
practitioners committed to advancing open principles in geospatial education?
[2],[3].

Access to quality education and digital economy opportunities is key for
getting rid of extreme poverty and enabling broadly shared prosperity for all.

Best wishes,

Suchith
