you caught me :) it's "new" in the sense that the EarthServer project has wound up and we are consolidating results from a rasdaman perspective. Indeed, they have been implemented earlier, and in 2014 they have been applied to several services (geology, EO, etc). Hope that demystifies a little. -Pe
