While you could set up an ad hoc network with a wireless card, I'd
strongly recommend getting an inexpensive wireless router and connect
your desktop to that via ethernet. Then connect your Squeezebox to
the router wirelessly.
It'll be easier to set up, be more reliable and probably cost le

Yep it is Sunday although do Slim Devices not provide tech support on a

Yeah, wipe cache seem to be the only way to get SlimServer to notice the
updated music folder.
The running of the scan never seems to stop though...but I checked the
folder even if the text was still displayed saying SlimServer was
scanning the music library or something. And it was updated.

Hiya,
Just sorting out what exactly I need to run the SB2 without wires.
I have an old desk top win98 AMD 300MHz, and a more recent XP 1.2GHz
laptop. It would be nice to use the desk top as the base / music store
if possible.
To start with though - do you think I would be able to get a wirel

What does the logfile say (/tmp/slimserver.log by default)? Are you

I am using MySQL.
Thought so ;-). There's a known problem with slimserver losing its
connection to MySQL. The but 947 contains an "experimental fix" for this.
You could give it a try (http://bugs.sli

Hello,
On my system (a Linux Gentoo box) Slimserver is not very stable at the
moment. I will play fine, but often when I leave it alone for a while it

This is quite annoying, the 5.x releases happily ran for weeks on end,
but now I have to keep starting

This may be a stupid question, but do you have Quicktime installed on
the server box? ALACs won't play via the normal slimserver setup
without Quicktime/iTunes installed.

Many thanks for the patience and advice. Somehow I'd missed that config

I can play the Hitchhikers surround stream by entering the URL into the

plays at lower level than the stereo version from "Listen Again" (which,
incidentally, decodes a little unstably in PLII Movie mode) via AlienBBC

Ok, let me try to put my question more simply:
.pls files I put in C:\Program Files\SlimServer\server don't show in
Slimserver under "playlists" or when I go to "playlists" on the

choose from).
Where do I put a .pls file so tha

unchecked songs out of the library. It is also an autoupdating
