I am running slimserver on a TS101 NAS drive connected via ethernet
cable to a netgear wireless router. My PC is running XP and also
connects wirelessly. Basically, I cannot run squeezebox without having
the PC on. Squeezebox only seems to recognise the main

A few times lately I've updated tags or added to my collection and
found that no matter what I do SlimServer won't pick up the changes or
additions until MusicIP has. This entails running up the application,

I was running XP pro, now my computer won't start up. I have got some
sort of windows error. All I did was install the new release 6.5.2,
then had to uninstall it, then I re-installed 6.5.1, and now my
computer won't start up at all.

my spare cycles, which accounts for my relative scarcity.
This sounds like a CSS thing, which means it will take somewhere
between 20 seconds and 10 years to fix ;)

I am sorry, but I just don't understand how to get the latest firmware
without the new SS 6.5.1. Bonz explained it to me in a previous post,

them. Are there any portable players that will support FLAC? the 80gig
iPod would be more than enough storage for me, too bad its only plays

That's about twice as many albums than I actually have. I've determined
that the problem is with soundtracks and other "various artists"-type

double the amount of files (everything repeated) then there is a way to
fix it but I can't for the life of me remember. A search in around
'double' should turn something up. If you have only partial doubling up

I get this too. I think the problem is associated with the tags - the
artist for each song is in the Artist field - rather than the artist
being just "Various Artists", therefore each artist instance (song) is
considered to be an album.
Can anyone explain?

The firmware is automatically updated when you install and run the
latest version of Slimserver, so when you install 6.5.2 your Squeezebox
will automatically update to the firmware that came with it.

FYI, we're up to 6.5.2 now (you keep mentioning 6.5.1). Inevitably

Squeezebox can not connect to slim server, when turning off my CA
Security Center Firewall, it connects instantly.
I'm using fixed IPs on my LAN, all correct and setup on my router.
I have 2 expert rules set up and enabled on CA firewall
TCP 9000
TCP and UDP 3483
Still squeeze
Unfortunately this crazy law has already hit my favourite radio station
and it has now ceased broadcasting. Music One (www.m1live.com) was the
_best_ dance station around. Rich the stations owner and sole worker
has stopped the station prematurely to try and formulate a business

I updated slimserver but the machine has been working since that at
least for a couple of days. The router is the same (Linksys WAG54GS).
As far as I know no other changes have happened.

I have Comcast for my internet. Their service goes down once or twice a
week. Will the SB3 still function at home if i loose my internet
connection? This assumes that my wireless router is still on.

If your PC and Squeezebox are on, yes, you can keep playing music even
if Comcast fell off the earth. Some things won't work, obviously
(netradio, rss feeds, etc), but local music is unaffected.

The RadioShark looks superb but it just needs to work off my
ReadyNAS running SlimServer. Pity, that's not there yet.
I'll do some investigating into the IR Blaster option as I'm not sure

They don't max out at 360, that's for sure. When I listed 700, I listed
it as the max. I'm hard pressed to find any actual files that high, but
there are enough in the 500's and 600's.

Make sure you have opened them for incoming connections, not outgoing.
