Upon startup of my computer, SS runs but come up with the attached error message, this means that rather than the SB being able to connect I have to tell SS to startup. Very annoying! this has with all SS since I got the SB 6 months ago, and have tried completely deleting SS several times etc and

Maybe it sounds crazy but someone posted on here a little while ago with a link to a site telling you how to build a high gain dish out of some card and foil, may actually work for you if you can find the link, for free its maybe worth a try. the dish just slots over the aerial on your router.

You could use a custom firmware for your WRT-54G router. The WRT-54G runs a Linux kind of firmware and therefor the sourcecode is public In this custom firmware you could boost the output of the wireless signal considerably. Loading the firmware is as easy as doing an update from the Linksys

Where are you seeing this? The only time i can think this would be happening is if you don't have any tags in your files and are browsing by music folder. And of course, if you are using WAV files, there won't be any meta data included in them. You really should look into using FLAC and sorting

Some more details would be good :) What file format(s) are you using? What version of SlimServer? Waht OS are you running? Turning on the -d_scan debugging option might be a good idea as well. It might tell you/us if there are problems with the scan.

I had similar problems. It turned out that some of my files were in wav format and thus didn't have tags in them and wouldn't show up in any searches. One thing that works for me all the time is to browse buy music folder. By default it is not on the SB3 menu so you'll have to enable it from

There should be a file SlimTray.exe in your program files. Exactly how it is called, I don't know. All I know is that I disabled it through Windows Defender, and I no longer run Slimserver at startup. Maybe there is a setting somewhere in Slimserver? -- riffer

Although you can increase the signal strength - you need to make the signal/noise ratio improves as well. I found that upping the power didn't provide a better quality stream. I changed the antenna of the router to get a better S/N ratio. -- bpa

The SB and SlimServer will respond to it's own remote, and also to a JVC DVD player remote. That should be available on your remote i would think. This goes back to the SliMP3 and original SB that had a Sony universal remote instead of the custom one that's used now. -- funkstar
