The preference file is created when you start SS/SC for the first time. You
should find it in a prefs sub folder of the program folder where you installed

Can it use the digital output as a signal for a further DSP device and
then accept that as a digitsl input for it's inbuilt DAC.
IE could I go digital out to lets say a TACT and then take the

I already run avahi (a Bonjour daemon) on my Linux box and I'd rather have it
advertise my slimserver instead of having slimserver run its own copy of
mDNSResponder.
In the past I've done this by manually creating the appropriate avahi config
file and commenting out the mDNSResponder invocation in

Does your custom-convert.conf file contain the "#PIPE#" string as per
the instruction ?
If so - can you enable logging with player.source set to INFO and copy
the log of trying to play a stream to a post.

I have just installed SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0 - 15528 today onto my
PC running Windows Vista Ultimate.
I was hoping to configure AAC Plus, so that I can listen to AAC Plus
streams.
I have already installed AlienBBC, which is working, so I know MPlayer
is installed ok.

I am also enjoying SqueezeCenter7 and am mostly happy with it, but have
also noticed this problem. SC7 is failing to automatically start on

I have three squeezeboxes. I'm happy with mine.
My attitude is that this is cutting edge technology that is a work in
progress.
The benefits far outweigh the idiosyncracies (spelling?).
As you use it, and use the pc interface too, things get easier.

I'm also noticing the same thing with a recent build of 7. (Which -- by
the way --- is fantastic.)

I'm sure it will improve in the future.
As for the remote, I think it is wonderful, but it is obviously not
intended for heavy duty text typing.
If you're using Rhapsody, better organize a library
I'd also use netstumbler to figure out a free channel, or if you don't
have a wireless computer try out different channels.
There is a network test at the slimserver web console, check its
results.

I didn't realise they had added the LCD, when i saw this on Engadget i
thought they had just bumped the capacity. As Netgear seem to be

figured it was jus a bit of marketing and not really a new device at

Since it has been working fine until recently - it is possible a new
wifi network has been setup nearby. You can check with Netstumbler or
a wifi detector.
Try changing channel on the router and then restart all the wifi
equipment so they pickup the new channel.

The SB1 doesn't play flac natively, so it is probably being sent wav's

Try installing LAME mp3 encoder and unchecking flac > wav.
