I've been running the Radio as a "clock radio" for quite a while now. I
run a Squeezeboxserver 24/7, and my alarm sound is a local .mp3. Before
that, I used one of the "sound effects" which actually is served through
mysqueezebox.com, and the reliability of the alarm was poor. Since

Is there any way to have the SBR look for the server (my laptop) by MAC
ID and not by IP address? Since my router is DHCP my laptop tends to
get different IP addresses from time to time and the SBR then fails to
see it because it's looking for a specific IP. I can then use Net:UDAP

It could still be rescanning. I had the problem were it would just do
repeated rescanning ... like it never ended.
Look in your server and scanner logfiles.
Or newt time it happens fire up taskmanager and have a look if there
are processes that eat the CPU

I was in the market for a used SB2 back when I got my first squeezebox.
Bought one off eBay for a decent price - except it turned out to be an
SB1 - got a refund on that. Finally found a used wired-only SB3 on
Craigslist (but Northern CA, so had to work out paypal/shipping)and the
SB adventure b

As in unistalled ok ( Even if many AV software has a disable setting
this is not really happening )

to exclude *.MYD and *MYI files .
Some versions of MSE does not honor thi settings
Sometime you get the telltale "can write to file bla bla .myd" or
create that file , it's usually the AV blocking MySQL .

That's how I found them. Have you possibly set a bitrate limit in your
ShoutCast settings?

one at my work, on Small Business Server 2003 machine, and the other at
home on a Win 7 ultimate machine.
At home, on Win 7, this library scans perfectly.

I have installed "Server Power Control" for my Squeezeplay to shut down
my WinXP Server when and how I want. But the "Server Power Control"
