The first thing you should check is the permissions on your playlist
folder. The user 'squeezeboxserver' needs to have read and _write_
permissions in that folder. If not, the playlist never gets written to
disk. It appears to be saved, but it's only saved temporarily.
Can't you get to a command line on sheevaplug? If so, then simple use of
the chmod and/or chown commands will set you up. Meanwhile, which user
and group own the playlists folder?

I like to listen to some Guardian podcasts like Tech Weekly - been doing
this through Stitcher on my iPod Touch. Yesterday I bought a Squeezebox

Yes I can get to a command line on the Squeezeplug, although I would need
help with the syntax when entering any commands!. Current owner of the

You need to enable the Podcast services in App Gallery. Then use
mysqueezebox.com to add the Guardian podcast url.

Okay, well a quick, dirty, and insecure way of getting things to work is
to give everyone read and write access to the folder. To do this, become
the root user, which is usually done via the 'su' command. Then, as
root, give the following command:
chmod 777 /full/path/to/playlist/folder

Excellent! That worked. Can I add this as a favourite? I tried
allocating it to a pre-set, but that didn't work. I would like
'Guardian Tech Weekly' as a favourite and when selected it would show

I managed to find the Guardian Tech Weekly podcast url and added it in

For future reference the url is:

I just wish it was easier to find! Found it in some user comments on a
Guardian web page.

Dunno, each podcast is a separate/independent program so I'd guess each
would have to be added/selected individually.
Might try the suggested podcast apps, they may have some better menu
navigation options to see play them more to your liking.
I don't use podcasts myself. :(

I apologize if this has been covered before, I did not find anything in

What are the pros and cons of embedding your artwork in each song, as
opposed to just using cover.jpg in the album folder? I'm using

If the scan goes well there should be no performance issues.
In a pure SBS and album context, folder.jp would be suficient , but if
you plan to use the files outside SBS , maybe just a selection of files
from different albums then embedded would be better.
I also embedd nowadays, thinking that
