I haven't read this thread, so I'm not sure I can answer directly. But
the JRiver folks will likely answer promptly on their forum:

I think most people use 'SoX' (http://sox.sourceforge.net) or
'foobar2000' (www.foobar2000.org).

I know you can do this easily in dbpoweramp. Maybe in foobar2000 as

I unplugged my apple tv, waited for it's absence to be noticed by the
system, and Squeezeplay now plays audio out through the
speakers/headphone port.
I plugged my apple tv back in, picked apple tv as the audio output
device in system preferences, re-launched squeezeplay, and presto,

Endpoint AppleTV in the logs?
Does it just stream to a different target?
In the SqueezeSlave thread there was a log of the output devices, and
AirPlay was there in first position as well.

Agreed, and in this instance it's really pretty easy to do a
double-blind test, or do away with the partner entirely and have a valid
single-blind test.
1) use the same original source (24/192), and downsample to get the
24/96 and 16/44.1. That way you know that any difference isn't down to

Yes, that's very true so I intend to down sample and compare again.
Thanks

That's enough to cause bias; your listening partner could have picked up
on your reactions (whether voluntary or involuntary). A
I have no sound either. I can see a few log messages in the console
that may help the developers. The following messages are output when
squeezeplay starts:

call is deprecated and should not be called anymore.

I have not tested squeezeslave on 10.8
First, do you get sound if you use the default built in output?
Then grab the 'latest beta build from googlecode'
Again, try the built in output (-o2), if it works, then try the Air
If you do not mind performing a jailbreak on your iOS device, then you
can use "Wifi Analyzer" which can be found on Cydia.

Installed mountain lion, no sound output from squeezeplay. Upgraded to
nightly, still no sound.
I hope the wonderful developers are keeping busy with solving this
problem, may the force be with you!

I'm in the process of upgrading and tweaking my home network, mostly
wireless. Also doing the same for a friend and the network at work.
I could really do with an app for testing throughput, signal strength
etc.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
