Not sure if it is me but BBC iPlayer live is constantly re buffering
tried altering things in Advanced Network and on the Boom Audio but
still it persists.

SqueezePlayer uses the Google NDK (native development kit), to be very
performant even on very old devices (like HTC Wildfire with only 500Mhz
CPU).
Typically this layer is not ported in emulators (which is why
SqueezePlayer also doesn't run on Blackberry).

Most likely it is your network if Boom is connected via wireless but
more details on your set up and specifc on the BBC stream you are
playing would enable some tests to try.
Is Boom connected using wireless or wired ?
Are you in the UK or not (this affects stream speed) ?
Are you playing WMA
One question: One of your changeant is SqueezeLite as an integrated
player.
Does this mean SqueezeLite now replaces the mpd based VortexBox player
as the default player or is it just an additional option?
And another one: in the past I could only run 32 bit versions in a VM,
