(RATINGS, PLAY COUNTS, HISTORY) Not at all. Play counts and history could be useful. But my squeezeserver only contains a small fraction of my played music. Since I've only had it for a month and listen on a lot of different devices. Yes, I think it helps. - DO YOU TYPICALLY START SEARCHING/BROWSING FROM AN ARTIST, ALBUM OR TRACK AND WANT TO FIND SOMETHING RELATED TO THAT ? I have used it in other players where it was visible. 2. HOW DO YOU USUALLY FIND NEW MUSIC YOU LIKE TO GET BUT CURRENTLY DON'T HAVE IN YOUR LIBRARY ? Recomendations from friends and last.fm and then onto spotify or similar to listen in to it. - HEARD IT ON THE RADIO ? No - WHERE DO YOU START WHEN SEARCHING ? TOP CHARTS ? GENRES ? SIMILAR ARTISTS SIMILAR ARTISTS OR TAGS. - DO YOU USE SOME WEB SITE WHEN SEARCHING OR DO YOU BROWSE SOME MUSIC STORE DIRECTLY ? Last.fm - ARE YOU USING THE COMPUTER, YOUR SQUEEZEBOX OR SOME OTHER DEVICE WHEN SEARCHING FOR NEW MUSIC ? My computer - DO YOU PREVIEW THE MUSIC BEFORE PUCHASING ? Realsystem, laptop with headphones or computer speakers. - DO YOU USE A SUBSCRIPTION BASED SERVICE...? Spotify, last.fm - THROUGH FRIENDS ? Yes HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE ABLE TO FIND MUSIC IN YOUR OWN LIBRARY IN THE FUTURE ? While similar artist are good I would like my library to learn what I like and give me suggestions from that. Answering questions such as: - What songs have been played more than any other songs on the album? - What did I listen to during last summer? Navigate through timelines. - Using tags to navigate my collection, just genres are not good enough. - Using api's such as last.fm or echonest to navigate through my music using other data. - Give me all songs that does not contain the word love(Could maybe use musixmatch. Haven't looked into their data that much yet). Some of these already are possible with sql playlist. I guess a big feature for me would be to be able to get my whole listening history in to the database. 4. HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO FIND NEW MUSIC YOU LIKE TO BUY/GET IN THE FUTURE ? I'm happy with my current approach. 5. WHAT KIND OF TAGGING/MANAGEMENT DO YOU DO ON NEW MUSIC YOU ADD TO YOUR LIBRARY TO MAKE IT EASIER TO FIND STUFF LATER ON ? Run everything through piccard and then use a small script to add last.fm tags to each artist. - IS THE FOLDER STRUCTURE THE MUSIC FILES ARE STORED IN IMPORTANT ? Split albums gives me some problems but other than that, no. - DO YOU MANUALLY ADD RATINGS TO YOUR MUSIC ? WHY ? No, When I'm listening active moste of the time I'm not at a device that let med ad raitings. 6. DO YOU SYNCHRONIZE THE DATA IN SBS WITH SOME OTHER APPLICATION TO MAKE IT EASIER TO FIND INTERESTING MUSIC ? *- Import statisitcs from MusicIP ?* No, haven't tried MusicIP yet. - IMPORT FILES, PLAYLISTS AND STATISTICS FROM ITUNES ?
