runnning SS on such a dated OS and related hardware might do your friend
more harm than good, ultimately he might think SB3 isn't such a great
idea, not good.

Unfortunately a 'virgin' install doesn't always help, I even tried a
virgin install on another directory but got the same result. I believe
there are 'left overs' in the registry affecting a new installation.

as much as I love my SB3, got to admit 6.3 was way more stable then 6.5,
especially after hearing so many stories with issues runnning the newer
version, PLUS experiencing so much unknown problems myself.

the Service entry is still there.
Can anyone advise me how to remove the Slimserver Service manually
from the Registry?

I have similar problem and likely to be even worst since the SS
Service cannot be uninstalled properly, I have posted on another
thread and woud appreciate sugegstion.
Once you have lived with SB3, you ain't going back, so please help.
