I was able to get properly connected without the controller by
interacting with Logitech support. They apparently fixed the database
entries on their end and now all is working fine for me.

taskbar, there is a 'diagnostics' tab, which shows the IP address of the
mysqueezebox.com and 'OK' for the 'ping' and 'port' status. But somehow
I'm just not connected.
