Small is beautiful. I have a nice Pentium M with 1GB ram running on a nano-sized form factor... these little beasts just get smaller and smaller. If you also know where to look you start finding some with raid SATA support. Now that is TINY! -- roamingstudio

which are quiet, low power usage and slim (e.g. Synology / QNAP) are the ideal future - unless you manage to make a transporter clone with inbuilt copper pipes for passive HDD cooling. Now that would be nice! (it is also a mini project of mine). -- roamingstudio

option to keep the old database format would possibly be good for these groups of people - if it works; dont fix it. If you need improved performance then the path is probably to have a custom mini-itx / PC based system; in which case MySQL is not a problem. Just my 0.02$ -- roamingstudio
