Gather round kids, story time. I have purchased the following (in order,)a squeezebox boom, squeezebox duet, squeezebox radio and a squeezebox2.
The Boom was my first Squeezebox I purchased. It wasn't cheap, but I wasn't disappointed. It was worth the money. It has a slightly clumsy way of getting stuff done, but it did what it was supposed to & it did it very very well. Then I purchased my Duet - this was great, but I didn't use it as much as my Boom. It was missing something, a type of Love. (I don't know what it is exactly, but the Boom has it, and the Duet doesn't). It is not worth the money. I like the device, but not happy, or delighted. Then I purchased the Radio. It was worse. I mean, it looks great, it functions as expected (most of the time). The battery pack is neat (so neat, it shouldn't be optional). I like the handle and the round look, but it's still missing something (love?). I'm happy with the purchase, but still not delighted. As a user who has had many years of enjoyment, my most recent addition has delivered the most delight to me - i.e. Slim Devices Squeezebox2. It's easy to use, it offers everything a device in it's class should. It does what it's supposed to. I does its job very well. It's simple, yet delivers much more than I expected. I am happy with the purchase. I am delighted. It is old. It isn't good looking (by modern standards). But I don't care. Take all my other squeezeboxes away, leave me my Squeezebox2. I'll stay happy. To the pioneers who were the first - thank you. The Squeezebox2 has delivered the most delight to me so far. I love it. I love it. I really really love it. There are no words to express how I feel, there really isn't. I am just so very delighted. Something has changed Slim Devices. I don't know how things are internally at Logitech, but get back that love.
