I saw dups in 6.2.2 and they didn't disappear after upgrading to 6.3.0
so I cleared then rescanned my entire library and the dups are gone -
at least the ones which I noticed before. Worth a try if you are
seeing dups now.

Thanks for the input Pat. Yes, fatigue was what drove me to start this
thread in hopes that there was a more reliable and consistent way to
separate the wheat from the chaff. I guess I'll need to listen in
small bursts to make the most accurate decisions.

Hi Mark & thanks for your detailed reply. The tracks in question have
already been ripped to VBR MP3s using EAC & LAME with the alt-preset
standard switch. This is more a question of how to identify which of
the resulting files are "better" when there are duplicates
s. I suppose
this question can also be extended to remastered albums. They
certainly sound louder (which is mitigated when using ReplayGain) but
are they necessarily better. Any recommendations or references you can
point me to? Thanks in advance.
