I'm thinking of upgrading my Slimserver from 6.5.1 to 6.5.5. I use most
of Erland's plugins and also LazySearch and MusicIP. Default skin,
Windows XP.
What's the best and safest way to upgrade? Clicking on the link
provided in Slimserver or closing it down and installing over top? Or,
should I
Download new version - save to disk.
Stop SlimServer.
Run the downloaded .exe
Enjoy!(and then go to SC 7 because it is way, way better than
6.anything - and don't wory about it being beta - that's a reasonable
criterion for commercial operations with support contracts but makes no
difference at
If you use the TrackStat plugin, make sure you have performed a backup
of the TrackStat data before the upgrade. This is done in the TrackStat
section of Server Settings/Plugins.
Make sure the text file generated from the TrackStat backup actually
contains some data and place this somewhere safe
Just a note, there really is no 6.5.5. afaik they have not been
updating the 6.5 branch at all. 7.0 is due out soon, and they have
been putting all the effort into that.
