The VFD screen on Boom and original Squeezebox players have a tendency
to become more and more dim. Mine has.
I've seen threads trying to research replacement VFDs with little
success.

Boom every time.
However, it is quite possible to damage the Boom speakers if like me,
you like a bit of volume and listen to modern bass heavy music. So I use
it with a subwoofer (as it has a sub-woofer out) and like the sound very
much. I also have it permanently set to medium stereo expansion.
Radio is mono, Boom is stereo. Both sound good, but Boom has a "fuller"
sound.

I have never heard a boom (I have a Duet on my main stereo). I would
describe the sound as "OK". Nothing spec

it very much. They cost $200 on Amazon now, but a couple of weeks ago
they were running a deal for $135. You can load Squeezeplayer to get
the boom funct
Thank you both for your replies! Both are very helpful! Looks like I'll
try to get hold of the boom then.
PS: If anyone has something to add feel free:-)

I've got all three, and have to say that even as a Premium Spotify
member, I'd rather listen to another service on my Boom than Spotify on
my Radio. The difference in sound quality is huge, aside from also
getting stereo. And if you use LMS instead of msb.com, you can listen
to Spotify on the Bo
There are threads about problems with the speakers on the Boom having
deteriorating rubber edges (there are kits you can get to replace the
rubber)

I have a Radio and a Duet already and am currently considering buying a
3rd unit used. At the site use the boom and the radio cost about the
same so I wonder which one I should get. I know the boom doesn't support
the official Spotify plugin, is there any other issues I should be aware
of that may
