i put one CD per folder only.
i use AA tags on everything.
i put a comp=1 tag on only those things i want identified as a comp. no
comp=0 tags.
i change the default value in settings of denoting comps as "Various
Artists" to "-Various Artists-" bc of a nasty bug in LMS where a
I duplicated the settings from @kidstypike and everything fell into
line.

All my tracks have an Artist tag.
I don't use the Album Artist tag, all completely blank.
I don't use the Compilation tag, not "1" or "0", all completely blank.
In LMS any album that doesn't have all the tracks with the same Artist
tag is classed as a compilation. That's fine by me, it doesn't
