SuperQ: I decided to teach my daughter about the scientific method and
I went and changed two things at once: I shifted the router about 10
degrees (moved the antenna) and changed to channel 2 on the router.
So far, 2 flawless evenings of connectivity.

I use a couple of Devolo Homeplugs to connect an SB3 to my router, it
works fine even though the two ends of the 'wired' network are on
separate circuits in the house. This may a solution for the original
poster.

The signal strength meter tells you how much signal you're getting, but
it won't tell you if you're "dropping packets". You should run the
network test plugin from the SB3 and it will tell you how many packets
are getting through. I don't remember if this is the case with the
signal strength on
