consider something like ethernet over powerline adapters. They often
work very well for bringing ethernet to a player.

Do the bottom two lines disappear while just displaying menu's? Or only
while a Now Playing screen saver kicks in?
These VFD's are "rated" to 100,000 hours. Though I'm beginning to
question that figure with so many SB3 owners reporting screen problems.

My squeezebox v3 display just quit functioning properly. You can almost
see what it says but it's all garbled and scrolling lines. I have tried
resetting by holding down the plus key while powering on to no avail.
