Not sure what that means. SlimServer sees the files, but when I click

Depends on the source of the files. If they are bought from a source
which applies DRM then they will not play. The standard way to
overcome this is to rip
For transcoding -or- is that LAME?. My library is ripped using iTunes,
so they are mostly m4a files - works fine.
The DRM'd files usually have an m4p extension.

If you are using windows - make sure you have installed Quicktime.

Yes, thousands of them. I had a similar problem with files of a friend
of mine. I recognised at last that the files imported didn't have the
right permissions
