I've just got SqueezeCenter running on Debian on a t5710 thin-client
using the internal flash disk and it runs flawlessly, so it's good to
see that you resolved it on the more powerful t5720.
These little boxes are perfect for this application, so long as you're
using a NAS for your actual music

Since you are running Linux I think the first thing you should do is run
"top" and check on the resources of the hpt5720. I am not clear on your
set up, but if the "pen" (aka flash memory) drive is your "disk drive"
(if that is possible) and you are swapping out, you may severely impact
