[slim] How does the volume control work?

Both when applied to the digital output and the analogue output. I know the internal it depth is greater than 16 so there should be some headroom without starting to chop bits. This is purely for my own interest. I use fixed digital out and IRBlaster to control my volume via the pre-amp. Tim -
