Waiting for a few minutes once the "Please click here to restart the
server now" prompt appears to help significantly.
However the core issue here, lms not restarting, was ultimately solved

seems to have fixed:
#/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache>md ../cache.TRASH

On further inspection what is happening is something is happening with
the DB. Huge cycles are consumed on the cpu, eventually creating a near
full stop in the process queue pushing immediate load avg up to 90+. Any
way to get more insight to what's happening here?

I installed logitechmediaserver-7.9.1-0.1.1509357021.noarch on CentOS
7.4.1708 yesterday. It's been working fine in spite of some issues with
spotty (which I'll report later). After selecting a few plugins for
installation LMS no longer opens port 9000. After multiple restarts I'm
