I've noticed this as well. It's particularly irritating when I wake up
in the middle of the night due to the unexpected bright light coming
from my SB3.

should open a ticket at bugs.slimdevices.com asking that this new
message be displayed at the same brightness that was in use just before
the connection was lost. Then software like SvrPowerControl could simply
set the off bright
The SD firmware programmers, at their end, should know that dark is
right.
