It's easy to validate strictly, it's harder to be tolerant of small
errors (because you have to find the errors and figure out whether
they're small!). Not much help I know, but not being familiar with the
SC/SN RSS parsing code it's the best I can say :)

I guess, my question is also why is SC/SN so restrictive on validity.
This doesn't seem to bother either iTunes or Winamp.
