I wonder if downclocking the rpi4 would do the job

Very good remark/question! I usually think like you.
In fact, it is that I plan to install in the houses of my parents and my
brother (who live quite far from my home) an equivalent solution. Today
they have nothing. The natural solution would therefore be to buy a

On the same subject, there are two interesting articles in issues 88 and
90 of MagPi magazine (https://magpi.raspberrypi.org/issues).

Yes I know. It is for this reason that I switched to Raspbian Lite.
I learned a lot about LMS from piCore Player. It's a great solution that
saves a lot of time. If it was based on Raspbian or a "classic" Linux
distribution, I would have ke

Thank you very much for these examples. This shows that it is possible
to directly mount a DAC on the Raspberry Pi 4 to listen to music. On the
other hand, you have to agree to let it take dust! ;) The important
thing is that it works.
But is it also possible to watch videos (maybe in 4K in the
Some of the temp difference between 2 similar setups would likely be the
firmware.
1) When the board was made, it could have newer firmware
2) If you booted with an updated Raspbian image, it would automatically
upgrade the firmware.
3) If you ran firmware update procedures that I posted (Link i

Ronnie, just gave mine a try, it's running at 44 Degrees with the DAC+
on Qobuz download with my open sided "case".
Tried it on both the Qobuz app and the my music integration in LMS

I have the IQ Audio Digi + which I'm not using but I don't have any
spare pi's to test on.
I'll try my o

I use the Pi 4 with an IQ audio DAC+ HAT (daughter board).
I find the DAC+ to have a very high specification and it's quite a bit
lower in price than some of the USB DACs.
It's easy to integrate into piCore as it already has a dt_overlay which
is selected by the piCore GUI.
The biggest issue w

Thank you both for your answers.
I see that both of you have chosen a USB DAC. I have the impression that
we must forget the DAC on daughtercard with a Raspberry Pi 4.

I use a Raspberry Pi4 with piCorePlayer v6 into a HiFiMe Sabre DAC
(24/96) which is powered from the USB port. Its not a great DAC but it
sounds very good. If I was upgrading I'd run an Audioquest Dragonfly Red
- again powered from USB - which sounds very good connected to my iPhone
so I'd expect
Currently I'm using a rpi4b (1gb) as a Squeezelite player into a Topping
DX3 Pro Dac/pre-amp.
Running Raspbian Desktop (the lighter version) with a librespot built
Spotify-connect client as well as Squeezelite.
Using "-C 5" in the Squeezelite settings

Hello
I am currently using a Raspberry Pi 3B+ with a Hifiberry DAC+ Pro card.
This equipment hosts an LMS server, a Squeezelite player and Kodi
(FullHD only). All this runs very well on Raspbian Buster, with hard
drives directly connected via USB.
I plan to use a Raspberry 4 but I fear temperat
