A lot of the performance problems would go away if there was a separate process which did nothing but deliver music to the slimp3/sb (and handle display features, etc). I think this should be broken out from the main server. We all know this. Just do it. -- Michael

As others have stated this is not the case for every SLIMP3 (original) user.  I've been running 6.2 since it was released and 6.2b2 prior to that.  I have experimented with the 6.x nightly releases as they were being developed and some of the 6.x releases.  I usually went back to 5.4.1 for

I think what's needed here is a bit more management of expectations, that's all. SLiMP3 support in 6.2 works for most people. It doesn't seem to work for this one person. The disappointment comes in the fact that 5.4 was fine for his needs, BUT IT OFFERED HIM AN UPGRADE that turned out to be a

As my slimp3 is also working very well, I assume that your problems with 6.2 might be more general and not slimp3 specific. I remember that the previous 6.x version does come along with an updated firmware for the slimp3. May be you missed that update? I couldn't find firmware updates for the

@malsbury: just did a diff on an old 5.x slimp3 firmware an the one that came along with 6.1.1. You are right, they didn't changed any single byte. This means that I upgraged to an identical version, but at least it doesn't blow the device ;-) So it remains unclear to me why slimp3 does make

Given the size of Slim Devices as a company, I feel like they do an adequate level of testing prior to release. Do you really think many other companies would even bother to support a product as old as the slimp3? SlimServer is supported for a wide variety of platforms. It is impossible for them
