After all these years of wireless, I finally killed the beast of
inconsistency. I bought a 50 foot ethernet cable online, drilled some
holes in the floor, and routed the cable from the computer in the den
all the way over to my now ancient SB2 in the family room. Viola! now

My SB2 had been working fine for months, now all the sudden it is
re-buffering constantly. like its starved for BW. Any clues what might
be wrong?

try it wired of the problems goes away you have a wifi issue (which is
not uncommon as these things change over time ,neighbors do stuff or
other sources of interference appear ,so it does not have to be you
changing anything ).
You notice if it's starwed for bw if it can play low bitrate mp3
You might also try re-seating the wi-fi card? Does the SB2 have a CF
style wi-fi card like the SB3?

well, I used the Wifi analyzer app in my cell phone and it has a
spectrum analyzer type display. It claimed my channel was fairly free.
There was a signal about 20dB down that would occasionally pop in the
view, but that is all. I am on ch 4. Ch 1 looked completely open, so I
changed the channel

The radio channel you say is one of my favourites, but it's not the
only one with the rebuffering issue, and also my SB player is not
working fine from some weeks ago.

If you only have problems with this one station it could have one (or a
combination) of the following reasons:
1- too many concurrent users draining the stations bandwidth. Internet
radio stations should limit the number of concurrent connections to
make sure they only just reach their
I listen to HAPPYDAY most every day, and its the only radio station, as
far as I know, that re-buffers very often, sometimes every 20 seconds
!
Why is this ?
I have mentioned this quite some times now, didnt get much
explanation.
And, yes, both at SqueezeNetwork and SS, and yes, I have increased
I told them to connect with winamp only...it is stored as .mp3 only. and
i have nothing above 128kbs. how do i do bitrate limiting?
is there a SSH that you would recommend?
i turn the server off everynight and close the port daily.
i understand that it is not a broadcasting platform...i just

Player Settings - Audio - Bitrate Limiting (second last setting). Note
you have to have LAME installed to do this, the setting paragraph will
tell you whether SlimServer detects this or not.
You also have a quality setting to set just above
thanks that really helped! your awesome!!!

First of all, how are your friends connecting and attemting to play
music? What players are they using at their end? What format is the
music stored in on your server?
If they are trying to stream high bitrate music across the internet it
is likley that this will fail as the player at their end
Also remember that each player has it's own playlist. Slimserver is NOT
a broadcast/streaming platform.

There is definately buffering of live streams but in playback mode the
buffer is not maintained in the full state as it is for playing of
local files. The comments in the health page are really trying to say
- if you see low buffer fill when playing remote streams this is not a
problem.
If you
Hi, as I learned the hardway my setup is far away from being optimal
as I only have a ATT DSL in a popular living area in New England. So
in the morning my live streaming of Internet Radio is rendered useless.
In the evening its almost fine. I would love to see any possible
progress done on
