I have both Music Magic and Moodlogic. MusicMagic by far is the
superior product. The Moodlogic mixes are pretty bad (unlike you like
a lot of the same artist in your mix!).

One issue is the lousy support from MoodLogic - I posed a query on the
2nd December 05 .. they responded on 6th January 06!!
Otherwise, I agree with all the comments above .. I would also add that
MoodLogic is NOT that stable at all .. constantly loses its database
dll. Obviously, I am NOT going
Thanks for the opinions. I bought MM without ever trying ML. I
couldn't be happier with the way the program works. Lots of options
for creating playlists. It's really opening up my collection for me.

another happy MM user here, full version primarily so I can archive to
tags vs. having to keep them in their database, there's other good
reasons to buy it as well

I'm just looking into this as well, as I've recently finished ripping
all my CDs. I was under the impression that Moodlogic was able to
generate playlists based on "mood" (the analysis of which is surely
subjective, and based on user feedback), while music magic created
playlists based on style o
Music Magic can create a playlist based on one or more specific pieces
of music, or you can use music to create a "mood", and the program will
create a new playlist each time you ask based on any moods you have
stored.

Really? Thats pretty cool - but again how does it understand "mood"? I
really don't want to install both moodlogic and musicmagic.
JUst noticed that MusicMagic is now called MusicIP - is that right? If
you go to the predixis web site you get redirected to MusicIp.com.

I've just installed the new music magic mixer - now called MusicIP Mixer
(what a terrible name). Its version 1.6.
First thing I noticed is that the UI is pretty awful. Its also not
documented well, and makes no mention of needing to pay for an upgrade
to get all the features - you stumble on to

Am I right in thinking that if you are a premium user of MusicMagic,
you can't use that key to access the premium features of MusicIP ?
I like the idea of MusicBrainz integration a lot, but not sure if I
like it enough to pay twice over.

I don't think so. I had a license key for MMM and I installed the
MusicIP 1.6b2 version last night. I used my existing license
I'm glad I got MusicMagic when I did. I'm not even sure the new one is
compatible with SlimServer. I hope the old version of MusicMagic is
still able to analyze songs in the same way as before. It's really a
great program. I don't understand why they messed with it so much.

Can confirm that the licence key for MusicMagic 1.5 works fine with
MusicIP 1.6 but 1.6 doesn't integrate properly with Slimserver as yet.
I see the MM icon but when I trigger an instant mix, the playlist is
empty.
Haven't noticed much of a difference between the two as yet, although

I downloaded 1.6 of Music/IP/Magic this morning after reading this
thread (its still validating - only 7885 tracks left!).
The UI is quirky, but I quickly managed to generate a bunch of
playlists that are great, I have to agree with all the earlier comments
- this software puts the icing on the Sq
Wish I'd known about getting a trial license key. I wanted the slim
integration, so I paid the the license. Still £11 is really not much to
pay, especially if it turns out to be as good as everyone here thinks it
is.
Currently, MIP is analyzing my music collection - its not very big -

You need to start MusicMagic before Slimserver, and (in MusicMagic)
start the API service. Then start up and open Slimserver and you will
see the MusicMagic options. The post I refered to above (start MM as
server) tells you how to set this up so it happens automatically when
you boot up your PC.
I'm curious about this application - sounds interesting. From following
this thread it seems that MM is tightly bound to Windows. My set-up
uses an XP client connecting to a SAMBA music collection hosted on
Linus, which is where the Slimserver runs. Would Music Magic/IP work
with this configuratio

Windows, Mac, and Linux versions exist. You could use the Windows
version and point to the share or run
