Well I gave up in the end and bought a cheapo USB wireless adaptor.

I use static IP and am pretty carefully when assigning addresses. Also
all the devices work happily together, with the exception of accessing
the server from the bridged HTPC. I can access the server OK from two
other PCs in the house.

Thanks for the link. I've already been through the bridge setup and it
is partially working. The only thing I cannot do on my bridged PC is
access the server where SlimServer is running. Weird.

Are your IP addresses OK?
The bridged PC doesn't have the same IP as the SB and
it doesn't have the same IP as anything else on your
network?
