I too have had number of issues with builds in the 6.x realm. However, I've found 6.2.2 to be extremely stable (on my linux server) and responsive in the SB UI.
http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/SlimServer_v6.2.2/ I think the key is not to be on the bleeding edge of the releases (unless thats your thing... not that there is anything wrong with it =). 6.2.2 is feature complete to 6.2 and contains two point releases worth of bug fixes.
