i commented out those lines in the convert.conf file which i believe i
did edit a few weeks ago.

i tried my older sb2 and it also chokes when trying to play that file
with player settings on no limit - 320,256 adn 192 will play the fiel
though. is this getting strange?

this settings allows the mp3 file to play correctly:

ok, so for some reason the mp3 isn't being played directly. do you have
the built-in mp3 disabled in server settings- file

Try checking if you have bitrate limiting set for that player. if you
have that set to some low bitrate, and you are missing LAME, then that
would explain why

either 256 or 320kpbs for it to play the mp3 files. is it me or does
these settings sound crazy - i mean if i had it set to 'no limit' then
it should have played any file - right?
flac worked before no problem.
